January 7th, 1961:

Al Pacino was arrested on this date in Woonsocket, Rhode Island, for carrying a concealed weapon. At the time, he was 21 years old, and was living in New York City. He stayed in jail for three days, along with two of his friends. All three were wearing black masks and gloves while driving around prior to their arrest.

The initial arrest report states that a .38 caliber pistol was found in the trunk of the vehicle. According to Pacino and the other two men, they told the police that they were actors who were traveling to an acting gig in New York City, and were using the gun for their roles. While Pacino was cooperative and friendly with the police, he could not pay the $2,000 bail at the time, and spent three days in jail instead. He was released on January 9th (the date the above mugshot was taken). Charges were later dropped.
